Thread veins are unsightly red or blue veins on the face or legs. They are more usual in women and often start at times of hormone change such as pregnancy and menopause. Sometimes they are associated with varicose veins.
Successful treatment of thread veins often means that underlying ‘feeding’ varicose veins need to be treated before treating the thread veins.
As they are considered cosmetic insurance companies and the NHS will not pay for treatment.
